Gameplay
xFIT is a Rhythm-fitness dance game. On release there are a few different modes to chose from.
- Workouts: This was my favorite mode, Here you make your way through 3 tracks lasting about 8-10 minutes. Each workout is intended to target a particular muscle group [example: leg sculptor]
- Tournament Mode: Here you’ll compete for a rank on the online leaderboards and take one track on at time, in total there are 24 tracks to get through.
- Wellness: Slower movements intended to be used as a warm up or cool down.
- Multiplayer: Go head to head with a friend

The core gameplay loop is workout/dance with your very own AI trainer (The AI trainers are based on real world fitness influencers from World of Dance such as Enola Bedard and Daisy Keech). Once you complete a track or workout, you will earn coins which can then be used to unlock new environments or to customize your trainer further with different outfits, an interesting take on gamification!

There’s both virtual and mixed reality support for Meta version. The Pico version doesn’t have mixed reality but does support the leg trackers.
Fitness Intensity
One thing that surprised me is that it’s more than just a dance game, xFIT has the ability to absolutely destroy your legs. In a 20 minute playtest I burn approximately 166 calories with an average heart rate of 124 bpm and a max heart rate of 150 bpm.
It offers the ability to be a full body cardio workout

Fitness test recorded using a Garmin Fenix Pro 7 and a Garmin Heart Rate Pro +.
Heart Rate Zones
xFIT is mostly a zone 2 workout but dips into zone 3 during more challenging movements such as the lunges and side squats.

Overall
Verdict
Overall xFIT is a solid addition to anyone's VR Fitness library. I think the team at VerseUs Games has done well improving on the their previous games.
